IOPNZ launch in Parliament - May 2022

IOPNZ launched in Parliament’s Grand Hall. The event was for and attended by rainbow Indians and their families.  Attendees included Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson, Minister Ayesha Verrall, Minister Priyanca Radhakrishan , Shanan Halbert MP, Glen Bennett MP, Chief Human Rights Commissioner Paul Hunt, NZ Police Deputy Commissioner Wally Haumaha, Ministry for Ethnic Communities Chief Executive Mervin Singham, and rainbow organisations and Indian association leaders among others.

Diwali festival 2022

In 2022, we played a part in celebrating Diwali in Aotearoa. We attended Parliament’s Diwali festival and met Indian High Commissioner Her Excellency Neeta Bhushan. We co-hosted a Diwali event with Southern Cross and we held a stall at Namaste Wellington.

Pride 2022
Many Pride events didn’t go ahead in 2022 due to COVID-19, however we were fortunate enough to hold stalls at Tauranga Moana Pride and Out and Proud Taranaki Pride.
Social events in 2022
Our social events included Chaat&Chat events in Auckland and Wellington, and whānau bowling in Auckland.
